Psychotherapeutic Support for Teams Is Effective – Mental Support for Media Program Results 2025
Psychotherapy is good, but comprehensive psychotherapeutic support for a team is even better.
We don’t just believe—we see from our own observations—how vital the internal atmosphere and safety within a team are for the well-being of each individual member.
Mental Support for Media (MSM) is the only comprehensive psychological support program for journalists in Ukraine. And it is effective.
A study we conducted in May shows that after psychotherapeutic accompaniment within the MSM program:
-
79.5% of journalists reported a decrease in burnout levels;
-
81.4% of journalists felt a reduction in excessive anxiety;
-
88.8% of journalists saw a decrease in symptoms of depression.
The results demonstrate that psychological assistance is effective: in more than 4 out of 5 cases, there is a reduction in symptoms of anxiety, depression, and burnout.
Behind these figures is the quality of life for a specific person, their family, and the efficiency of the team.
*Methodology and Statistical DataBased on data from 163 participants of the Mental Support for Media program who completed screening surveys before and after psychotherapeutic accompaniment lasting 2 to 4 months.
**Results of statistical analysis (Wilcoxon test) indicate a statistically significant difference between the results before and after psychological support across all three scales:Symptoms of depression:p=2.98×10⁻²¹; Symptoms of anxiety disorder: p=1.61×10⁻²⁰; Symptoms of burnout: p=9.38×10⁻¹⁹). This confirms that the changes after the intervention are not accidental and point to the high effectiveness of the support.
***If we define effectiveness not just as any reduction in symptoms, but as a transition to a "milder level" of symptom severity, the support also proves its impact.
Improvement in clinical status (transition to a lower severity level):
-
Depression symptoms scale: 64.6%
-
Anxiety disorder symptoms scale: 68.3%
-
Burnout symptoms scale: 25.5%
Psychotherapy was particularly effective in reducing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
